Impact of art

There is no doubt that for centuries art has been a huge piece of history impacting people on many levels.

People have used it for years to tell stories and preserve history; the earliest evidence of art dates back to the middle Paleolithic era.

Humans use art as a form of expression and communication often relating to others in a symbolic way within pieces of art whether it’s a painting, photograph, or a simple drawing with graphite.

Humans are able to see and interpret emotions through artwork based on simple shapes, and colors humans associate colors and shapes with emotions such as harsh corners and red, orange, black tones as angry emotions. Soft corners with blue, gray tones read as sadness.

Students at Pinckney Community Schools explore art in many different forms such as painting and drawing, ceramics, metal arts, and photography.

Lots of students look forward to the one hour of day that they get to go to an art class and relax and focus on art.

Naudya Scott a senior at PCHS mentioned “ To me personally art is being able to express emotions you can’t share out loud. It helps me reveal my creative aspects and I often find it as a stress reliever. I feel free like I have the ability to spend my time thinking and being creative in art class compared to sitting in a very structured lecture class.”.

Students often excel in hands-on art classes able to put their emotions into an art piece allowing their imagination to become true.

Not only does art come as a stress reliever but it allows for students to form genuine connections with one another, bonding over different art forms, experimenting together with different art media, giving genuine and meaningful feedback to one another, and brainstorming ideas with each other and building on each other’s ideas.

Kayla Hawthorn, a senior at PCHS, what her favorite art class is. “Drawing and painting is my favorite class because it means freedom to express yourself and protest through art along with communicating through art expressing emotions.”.
