With it being a classic for over 45 years, there’s no doubt this tops the list of the best Halloween movies.

2. Scream (1996)
Scream is a self-aware slasher film in which a masked killer terrorizes high school student Sydney Prescott and her friends by playing deadly games of horror movie trivia over the phone. Making over $6 million it’s opening weekend, the movie became an instant classic, earning its second-place rating.

3. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motion musical about Jack Skellington, the “Pumpkin King” of Halloween Town. Bored with the yearly scares, he discovers Christmas Town and becomes obsessed with bringing the holiday to his home, leading to a chaotic attempt to orchestrate Christmas in his own spooky style.

4. Hocus Pocus (1993)
Hocus Pocus is a supernatural comedy about three witches, the Sanderson sisters, who are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night. A teenager, Max Dennison, accidentally brings them back to life, and he, his sister Dani, their friend Allison, and a magical talking cat named Thackery Binx must stop the witches from stealing children’s life force to become immortal.

5. It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (1966)
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is an animated Halloween special where the Peanuts celebrate the holiday. While the others go trick-or-treating and attend parties, Linus waits in a pumpkin patch for the mythical Great Pumpkin, believing he will bring presents. Meanwhile, Snoopy becomes a World War I flying ace and engages in aerial combat, and Charlie Brown receives rocks during trick-or-treating.
