The Pirates Boys Varsity basketball team started their season off with a 2-0 record.
The Pirate’s season started on Tuesday December 2, 2025. Their first game was at the Pinckney high school and ended with a win against the Corunna Cavaliers, a score of 50-44.
The Pirates were led by Jace Carlson with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, Owen Zylka with 11 points, 1 steal, and 1 assist, Charlie Austin with 9 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals, Sawyer Gorman with 8 points and 3 assists and Price Hayes with 3 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists. They lead the Pirates with a great defensive showcase!
On Friday December 5, 2025, the Pirates hosted the Whitmore Lake Trojans.
With the Trojans coming off a win of 66-17 the night before. The Pirates, with a strong team defensive effort, beat the Trojans 60-35. Leading the offense was senior Jace Carlson with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, and senior Owen Zylka with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 7 steals, and 2 assists.
Radio station WHMI was broadcasting the Pirates game against the Trojans from Pinckney High School. This game was featured as the game of the week. Both Carlson and Zylka were named co-players of the game.
After talking with Coach Kyle about the first two games, he said “Even though we are only two games into the season I would say we are starting to play into our identity which is defense. The high energy and effort the team is playing with is contagious and fun to watch. 2-0 is an awesome start but we still have a ton of work to do and will continue getting better each day.”
