Mid-winter break

The mid-winter break is always something everyone looks forward to. This year, it took place from February 13 to February 16, and honestly, those four days off felt really good.

After several weeks of classes, homework, tests, and projects, having a short break in the middle of winter is truly necessary. In February, we all start to feel tired. The days feel long, it’s cold outside, and motivation isn’t always at its highest. This break allowed me to rest, sleep a little more, and spend time with my family and friends without constantly thinking about school. It was also a chance to take a step back and breathe mentally.

Personally, I tried to use those days to relax, but also to get a little organized. Even though it was a break, I knew coming back would happen quickly. And that’s where it gets a little harder.

Going back to school this Tuesday after four days off wasn’t that easy. You quickly get used to the vacation schedule: waking up later, not having strict routines, and not thinking about assignments first thing in the morning. So Tuesday’s alarm felt a little brutal. Getting back into classes, focusing again, and returning to the daily routine takes effort. It feels like the weekend just kept going, and then suddenly everything starts again.

At the same time, the break helps us come back a little more motivated. Even if returning is difficult, those four days helped me recharge. I think without this pause, the end of winter would feel even harder to handle. The mid-winter break is really important for students, even if that Tuesday morning afterward is always a bit of a challenge.

Overall, the break from February 13 to 16 was short, but necessary. It feels good to pause for a little while… even if coming back to school after four days off takes some courage.
