Pinckney Varsity Basketball VS Ypsilanti

Pinckney came out strong against Ypsilanti on February 3rd, jumping to an early lead with balanced scoring and steady ball movement. The Pirates controlled much of the first half, leading 14–13 after the second quarter and showing solid defensive pressure that forced several Ypsi turnovers.

Throughout the game, Pinckney saw contributions from multiple players. Charlie Austin and Grady Rea helped set the tone early, while Owen Zyka provided a strong offensive spark with consistent scoring. The team also rebounded well in the first three quarters, staying ahead on both ends of the floor.

But the momentum shifted late. Ypsilanti chipped away in the third quarter and gained confidence going into the final period. Despite Pinckney’s efforts, including key baskets and free throws down the stretch, Ypsi surged in the final minutes. Pinckney was outscored in the fourth quarter and ultimately fell 38–37 in a tough, narrow loss.
