Shades of Pink Foundation

Shades of Pink is an organization that supports breast cancer patients by providing them with financial assistance for their daily living expenses. Where does Pinckney come into play with their organization?

At Pinckney High School, we do an annual pink week in support of breast cancer. We have a week full of spirit days where all students and teachers can dress up according to the day and show their support.

Another thing we do here at Pinckney is our annual powderpuff game between the juniors and seniors. All the girls, in order to play, pay $35.00: thirty to cover the cost of their jersey, and the five goes to Shades of Pink.

On game day, we treat the flag football game as we would a normal high school football game. This means that if anyone wants to come and watch to support the girls, they can buy tickets to come in and watch. All pre-ordered tickets on GoFan cost $8.00 and $10.00 at the gates. All of the ticket money is donated to Shades of Pink.

From this game, Pinckney has raised $3,153.73, and all proceeds went to Shades of Pink.

Our NHS members also had a big part in helping make this night successful. They hosted a bake sale during the game to help raise money. All members either brought in baked goods, water, or cider.

Another thing that the NHS did was a Miracle Minute. This is where NHS members, during halftime, went through the stands with a jar to ask for donations in one minute.

All of these fun activities that we put on Wednesday, October 15th, are what helped us raise all the money we did to support Shades of Pink Foundation.
